Serving the community since 1954
The Lions Club of Merrickville has been serving the Merrickville-Wolford community since 1954. Today we are a growing, active club with a strong, visible presence in our community. Whether it is through efforts to address food insecurity, achieve greater accessibility, promote environmental sustainability, engage our community with local events, or invest in community infrastructure, we hold true to our mission: “WE SERVE”. We also contribute to Lions International causes such as dog guides and disaster relief. Volunteering together to make a difference in our community is what unites us as members.

The Merrickville Lions Club has identified four pillars of focus. We support and engage, often while collaborating with others, in initiatives that promote food, nutrition and equity, environmental sustainability, community connections, and community infrastructure.
Food, Nutrition and Equity – everyone deserves to have reliable access to a sufficient quantity of affordable, nutritious food.
Environmental Sustainability – taking care of our planet and using its resources responsibly supports the wellbeing of current and future generations.
Community Connections – bringing communities together, increasing community spirit, and creating connections within communities supports the health and wellbeing of residents, businesses, organizations, and visitors.
Community infrastructure – creating or enhancing our physical, tangible assets or spaces for community use/benefit provides opportunities within our community.
Throughout our service, we practice good governance and financial stewardship and operate with integrity and respect.
We value efforts to increase accessibility and inclusion in our community.
The Merrickville Lions Club is one of the 49,000 Lions Clubs internationally who are serving their communities locally and globally.
Over the years we have supported many Lions Clubs International initiatives such as providing funds for disaster recovery efforts, dog guides, and vision programs.

Are you a community organization hosting an event? Don’t forget that the Merrickville Lions have tools to help you make your event more accessible. We have signage to create an accessible drop off/ pick up zone. While we are short on accessible parking, the one thing you can do is create a safe place to drop-off someone who may not be able to walk very far while the driver finds a space to park further away. The checklist is to remind you of accessibility details. The checklist is a guideline and just points out items that may not have been considered before to help make the village events more accessible to those with disabilities. If you are interested in using these tools, please contact us at merrickvillelionsprograms@gmail.com

The Lions Club embarked on a project to bring additional AED’s to Merrickville. Partnering with Zoll Medical, CardioChoc and our community, the Lions purchased 4 new units to be strategically placed in the Community. AEDs are defibrillators that, when available, can by used when a person experiences a cardiac event. The ZOLL AED 3® defibrillator features real-time CPR feedback, full-colour rescue images, RapidShock™ analysis technology, and an integrated child mode, making it simple to treat both adult and pediatric victims of sudden cardiac arrest (SCA).
